Synera Systems Founders Launch illuminate Solutions to Develop New Database Technology for Complex Analytics Systems
New company to deliver new generation of data warehouse technology.
BARCELONA, SPAIN, 10 Feb. 2005—Two founders and key executives of database software company Synera Systems, today announced that they have launched illuminate Solutions (http://www.i-lluminate.com). The new company will develop a database technology and data access tool suite for building data-generated data warehouses, data marts and analytics applications. The technology is a correlation database management system (CDBMS) and is based on a unique storage structure.
illuminate's correlation database is a radically new information management infrastructure for analytics that uses a value-based storage (VBS) structure, not rows as used in relational databases or columns as used in columnar databases. In VBS, each data value is stored only once, and all data values are individually indexed during the loading process. The VBS is the basis for a correlation data warehouse’s unparalleled performance without compression techniques and it’s ad hoc analysis flexibility.

Synera Systems Co-founders Anton Torrents and Joseph Foley along with former Synera executive Juan Francisco García make up the new executive team at illuminate Solutions. Focusing on their individual strengths, Torrents holds the position of chief executive officer, Foley is chief architect and García is chief operating officer.
