ARAG Spain Selects illuminate Solutions' Correlation Database to Build a Data Mart to Serve Its Financial Operations
Insurance giant pleased to be illuminate’s first customer and cited fast and inexpensive deployment and ad hoc analysis flexibility as critical.
BARCELONA, SPAIN, 4 Nov 2005—illuminate Solutions (http://www.i-lluminate.com), pioneer of correlation database management technology for automatically designing and building data warehouses and data marts, today announced that ARAG Spain has signed an agreement to purchase illuminate’s correlation database, iLuminate, along with its business intelligence tool suite, which includes iCorelate and iAnalyze. ARAG Spain is part of ARAG Group, one of Europe’s leading insurance companies. ARAG Group is headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany and has over 4,000 employees.
ARAG Spain is illuminate’s first customer and will be using the iLuminate database engine to build a data mart that quickly and easily integrates all of its commercial and budget data on an ongoing basis. The company turned to illuminate Solutions as an alternative to building an OLAP cube. The important factors in the decision are illuminate’s ability to build the warehouse quickly and inexpensively and the database’s unrestricted ad hoc analysis capabilities.
"At first, we couldn’t believe such a database technology existed," said Amadeo Puyuelo, database administrator of ARAG Spain. "It seemed too good to be true, so we put it to the test before we agreed to buy. It was quite a surprise when we had our data warehouse built with only 40 hours of time by illuminate."
In fact, only one illuminate consultant helped to build and install the data warehouse in that time, which included data profiling and data quality repairs. Within 18 work hours after, illuminate worked with ARAG Spain's data warehouse team using iCorrelate, illuminate's exploration tool, on discovery and helped to deliver customized iAnalyze dashboards.
"This project far-exceeded our expectations," continued Puyuelo. "This correlation database technology is bound to be an important asset to nearly any company that needs extensive ad hoc analyses to augment the reporting that relational data warehouses are good at."
ARAG Spain stated that it needs to be able conduct financial analyses to improve its profit margins and make our sales structure more efficient. Its existing system was holding up progress—the information is there, but it couldn’t get to it. iLuminate’s ad hoc analysis capabilities were cited as critical to the decision.
